Course Abstract
Learning your trade, speech therapy, should not be the only focus of your work journey. To be
successful, you also need to master the art of being a great employee. This course reviews what
being a great employee in a home health environment means from the perspective of the employer.
This may or may not be your first job as a Assistant-SLP. No matter your work status, this course
defines Assistant-SLP expectations and will benefit you as an employee in any environment.
This course is a required prerequisite to achieve Assistant-SLP Basic Competency Certification
[BCC] and prepare the Assistant-SLP for the next competency certification, ICC.
Passing the quiz at the end of this course will generate your completion certificate and qualify you
to complete the HR final exam to obtain your BCC.
Submit your certificate of completion for this course to HR and schedule with HR within 3
months of your start date to take the final exam. Passing the HR final exam will formally
complete your orientation period and earn your BCC credentials. You may take the HR
exam anytime within the 3 month orientation period.
Proudly display your earned BCC credentials on your ID badge and wherever you sign your
name.
These courses consist of slides viewed at the participant?s pace. Successful completion of this
course requires a passing grade on the exam at the end of the presentation.
Course Learning Objectives
- Participant will list 5 at least expectations of a speech therapist in a home health environment.
- Participant will verbalized the definition of evidence-based practice in speech therapy.
- Participant will be able to identify the components of a SOAP note and give examples.
Completing this course is the first step to earning your Advanced Competency Certification [ACC] credentials
